SMELLY OLD CAT CLASP PIN in CASE. (1992) by R. Crumb.
This is one of Crumb's more obscure characters,
but one that cat-lovers always seem to gravitate to. This was
part of a set of three (see also "Mr. Natural" and
"Mr. Snoid"). This may look superficially like a "cloissonnè"
pin (where enamel is melted between crude metal outlines) but
it is not. The detailed image is silkscreened on metal for much
greater clarity than cloissonnè. It is then covered with
a thick, curved clear-coat. The pin is mounted on a card with
color Crumb art and foam backing in a clear snap case measuring
2" x 2.25" x 1/2". Great item in mint condition.
