WILL EISNER. The Long Hit, page 2. (1986). Originally appeared in Will Eisners Quarterly #8 then was collected in The Will Eisner Reader (Kitchen Sink Press/DC Comics/W. W. Norton).

In this short but masterful story, a mob hit man bungles an assignment in 1934, then half a century later finds himself retired in Florida, where he sees the man he was hired to kill much earlier. This story coincides with Will Eisners own retirement in Florida, where he still accomplished a great deal of work before his demise in 2005. In this wonderful composition Eisner has a palm tree from the bottom panel (the present) literally overlapping the flashback panels above. An outstanding example of Eisners always inventive page layouts.

Size/Medium/Condition/Price: This Long Hit page measures 11 by 14 inches. Drawn with pen, brush and ink on Bristol board. Excellent condition. Price: $1,500
