WILL
EISNER GRAPHIC NOVEL ORIGINAL ART
Title/date/description: WILL
EISNER. TO THE
HEART OF THE STORM (1991)
Page 166.
The teenaged Will Eisner has just been caught peeping
on Buck’s bathing Aunt Lena upstairs. Buck is aware that
his Aunt Lena has an eye on Will and encourages him to go
back upstairs and do “you know what with her” to
remove the danger that his father will find out they
were both peeping and will shut down their boat
building in the basement.
It’s an emotionally confusing situation captured
perfectly by the master storyteller in this most
overtly autobiographical of his many graphic novels.
The isolated panels float about the unfinished boat as
yet another example of Eisner’s inventive and
ever-changing storytelling technique.
Size/medium/condition: 11 x 14
inches (28 x 35.6 cm). Ink on Bristol
board with grease pencil gray shading. Excellent
condition.
Provenance:
Warranted to be from the Will
Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively
represents.
