    DOPE COMIX No. 3 (1979).

An astoundingly detailed cover by Jay (Nard 'n Pat) Lynch sums up his jaded view of the '70s drug scene. Featured in this trippy underground comic book are: "My First Acid Trip" by Howard Cruse (a true classic), "L.S.D." by Steve Stiles, "On Something!" by Larry Rippee, "Smoker Scoffs," "Dog Dues" and "Pot Tots" by Gary (Phoebe) Whitney, shorts by Joe Schwind, "I Scream" by Dan Steffan, and "Dope 'O' Toons presents 'A Night in a Head Shop'" by Doug Hansen.

The latter parodies those '30s animated cartoons where toys "come alive" at night in a toy shop. In this head shop version Mr. Zig Zag (from rolling papers fame), an Alphonse Mucha poster girl and hippie mice battle it out with nasty rats based on members of the band Kiss. Weapons include bongs converted to cannons. The story ends on the back cover in color, an unusual device. Kitchen Sink Press. First printing. Mint/near mint.
