FRANK STACK (1937-)
a.k.a. Foolbert Sturgeon • Original comic
book art
“The Casebook of Doctor Feelgood: The TV Freak” (1972) -
(lot of 2)
When Dorman Grammit
visits everyone’s favorite African-American
philosopher and psychiatrist, Doctor Feelgood,
in this case in the doc’s pool hall office, hilarity
and enlightenment of some sort usually ensues. These
are the first two pages from the lead story in Feelgood
Funnies (1972). Analyzing TV over four decades
is not much different than today, other than we have
lots more channels! Feelgood Funnies is one of
the highlights of the underground genre, and here’s a
chance to own the opening pages.
Medium/Size/Condition: Pen and ink on heavy
Crescent illustration board measuring 10 inches wide x
15 inches high. Both pages are in excellent condition.
Price: $650 for the 2 page lot
Further reference: Most
comix historians regard Frank Stack as the very
first underground cartoonist (his
earliest Jesus comics way pre-date R. Crumb or
Gilbert Shelton).
Additional Stack art is available. Contact us
