WILL
EISNER original art from INVISIBLE
PEOPLE “Mortal Combat” (1992)
pg. 11
Title/date/description: This heavily
cross-hatched page is from the “Mortal
Combat,” the 3rd chapter of INVISIBLE
PEOPLE, created by Eisner in 1992.
Hilda, a self-described 40 year-old spinster,
meets another “invisible person,” Herman, who
works in the same library, and who a co-worker
describes as a “prisoner” caring for his aged
mother, an Erie parallel to Hilda’s recent life.
Page 11 (of Chapter 3) on the art page itself and
page 96 in the Kitchen Sink and DC Comics
editions. Invisible People was the only Eisner
graphic novel that was first serialized in comic
books (three, titled SANCTUM, THE POWER, and
MORTAL COMBAT) and then collected into a single
book in 1993. A perfect page for a book collector
to frame and hang near his or her library.
Size/medium/condition: Blue
pencil, pen, brush, and ink on heavy Bristol board
measuring 11 x 14 inches. Eisner’s official studio
rubber stamps on reverse. Excellent condition.
Provenance: Warranted to be from the
Will Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively
represents. There can be no safer or more
certain purchase of Eisner art.
Note: Image is © Will Eisner Studios,
