Frankenstein and Igor - FRAMED under glass **

These are slightly grainy. Apologies.
Before Tim Boxell went on to a successful Hollywood career
in animation and film (see IMDb profile), he was a
stalwart contributor to underground comix, where he
sometimes worked under the nom de plume “Grisly” because
of his often explicitly gruesome content. This implied Dr.
Frankenstein page is a perfect example of his grisly
subject matter salted with his strange sense of humor,
hence it appeared in the 2nd issue of the long-running
underground humor anthology, Snarf. He had a relatively
short but distinguished career as an underground
cartoonist before heading west to start a new career.
Boxell’s art only rarely shows up in the market, so this
is an infrequent opportunity to fill in a gap in a serious
collection of underground art.
Medium/Size/Condition: Brush, pen and ink on
white paper measuring 13.25” x 17.25 inches. Currently in

which is still fully intact. Signed (twice) and dated in
