WEIRD TRIPS No. 1 (1974) first printing

This hybrid underground combines comix with illustrated offbeat text features. The outrageous cover is by Denis Kitchen. The 7-page comic by Evert Geradts, Honeys Sweet Revenge, is not for the squeamish.

Text features: Violence and Vegetation in West Massachusetts (a vegetarian cult gone awry) by R. D. Rosen and Nexus and Badger creator Mike Baron; How I Beat the Draft by Doug Moench; An Alien Walks the Earth. I Know I Carry his Baby, by name withheld (Denis Kitchen); Smoking Uncle Sams Dope (clinical marijuana testing) by Mike Baron; Raped in the Rain by Mike Olshan; and Confessions of a Police Groupie by Mercedes Figg (Jane Lynch, then married to cartoonist Jay Lynch). Most of the articles are illustrated by Peter Poplaski.

Weird Trips as an experiment format did not last long. The 2nd and final issue, featuring notorious cannibal murderer Ed Gein, is also available from us.

First (and only) printing. Published by Kitchen Sink Press. Condition is excellent, as scanned. $10
