WILL EISNER original art from INVISIBLE PEOPLE, “Sanctum” (1992) pg. 29

    Title/date/description:
This third-from-last page in “Sanctum,” the 1st chapter in INVISIBLE PEOPLE, created by Eisner in 1992, is a lovely thing to gaze at.

Will Eisner demonstrates his unsurpassed storytelling techniques as the union goons kick Pincus Pleatnick out of their car racing racing along a NJ cliffside. As he momentarily floats in the air in the 3rd panel, he reminds us of Gerhard Schnobble, the equally ill-fated flying man in the September 5, 1948 episode of The Spirit (Eisner's self-proclaimed favorite).

But in a heartbeat the “flying man” meets a telephone pole with deadly force. Page 29 on the art page itself (and page 38 in the Kitchen Sink and DC Comics editions). Invisible People was the only Eisner graphic novel that was first serialized in comic books (three, titled SANCTUM, THE POWER, and MORTAL COMBAT) and then collected into a single book in 1993.

    Size/medium/condition:
Blue pencil, pen, brush, and ink on heavy Bristol board measuring 11 x 14 inches. Eisner’s official studio rubber stamps on reverse. Excellent condition.

    Provenance:
Warranted to be from the Will Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively represents. There can be no safer or more certain purchase of Eisner art.
