Series
(No. 9 of 18 in the Famous Cartoonist
Postcard sub-set). DeBeck
(1890-1942) created Barney Google
(1919-42), a comic strip whose pint-sized hero epitomized the
sporting life in the Roaring 20's as he sought successwith his
racing nag Spark Plug. In 1934 DeBeck introduced the roustabout
hillbilly Snuffy Smith into the strip and he evolved as
the star (drawn for many years after DeBeck's death by his one-time
assistant Fred Lasswell.) 4" x 6" sepia tone on heavy
card stock.
