123. Megaton Man On
Patrol! (1984).
Silhouette of musclebound Megaton Man
flying proudly above the clouds. Created by cartoonist Don
Simpson, the first issue of MM was a surprise hit: literally
an overnight sell-out. Kitchen Sink Press publisher Denis Kitchen,
who had assiduously avoided publishing superhero comics, found
his biggest hit in years was a comic parodying other superheroes,
such as Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four. Ten color issues were
produced, along with a number of black & white comics before
Simpson turned his attention to Border Worlds and erotica.
(See also buttons #122, 124-127). 2.25 inch diameter. $4.00
One note, for serious button collectors,
you may want to read the KSP
BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for
identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years,
or see the COMPLETE
KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient
while it loads.
