207-A. Freak Brothers Munchie Bars [Purple Fat Freddy variant] (1997).

Legendary underground cartoonist Gilbert Shelton, creator of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, licensed his archetypal hippie stoners to Kitchen Sink Konfections, a division of Kitchen Sink Press. In 1997, following up on the success of its R. Crumb-designed Devil Girl Choco-Bars, KSK produced three flavors of boxed Freak Brothers candy dubbed "Munchie Bars," a not-so-subtle reference to "the munchies" (a slang expression for the chocolate craving often experienced by marijuana users). Six different images (two of each brother) were created by Shelton and his long-time associate Paul Mavrides for the promotional buttons pictured here.

Button #207-A is a subtle variation of #207. It still features a blank-looking Fat Freddy with a purple rim and the color illustrations on 207 and 207-A are indistinguishable. But on this printing, the black letters are against a "clean" purple background, unlike the light-colored "ghosts" between the black letters and purple background on #207.

    1.25" diameter. $4.00

One note, for serious button collectors, you may want to read the KSP BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years, or see the COMPLETE KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient while it loads.
