231. I Survived Bob Chapman's Dead Dog
Party! (2001).
Publisher, bon vivant and entrepreneur
Denis Kitchen is at heart still a cartoonist and he periodically
demonstrates that he can still put brush to paper. His old friend
Bob Chapman, owner of Graphitti Designs, hosts
an annual "Dead Dog Party," a long-running, star-studded
private event that closes the exhausting San Diego Comic Convention
every summer.
Dave Stevens, Bill Stout, Bill Sienkiewicz,
Jeff Smith and other higher profile
artists traditionally create Bob's card invitations, which are
almost impossible-to-obtain collectibles. A detail from Kitchen's
card invitation doubled as 2001's official souvenir party button.
Featuring Steve Krupp, the affable cartoon host of this
very web site, 250 or so of these 1.25 inch diameter buttons
were given away to party attendees, continuing a tradition (see
also buttons #202, 259, 262, 266 and 276).
If you somehow missed Bob's party list
in 2001, you're a completist button collector, a Steve Krupp
collector, or simply want this on your lapel to impress high-powered
business associates, you can acquire your own 2001 Dead
Dog button from the source while supplies last .
(see also #202, 259, 262, 266 and 276)
1.25 inch diameter. $3.00
One note, for serious button collectors,
you may want to read the KSP
BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for
identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years,
or see the COMPLETE
KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient
while it loads.
