SPIRIT: The New Adventures, No. 1 (1998)

Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons (color)

Will Eisner resisted entreaties to revive his beloved classic character, The Spirit, but finally relented in 1997, allowing Kitchen Sink Press to assemble New Adventures by top contemporary talent.

The brilliant first issue was created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, reuniting the team that brought you Watchmen!  In three different stories that explore the shadowy origin of the Spirit from three distinctly unique viewpoints, Moore and Gibbons ask the questions: Who is the Spirit?  Where did he come from?  And how the heck does he keep the streets of Central City free of crime with just his two fists and a flimsy blue mask?

Full-color (by Angus McKie), 32-page comic book, with a cover by Gibbons, with a splash pin-up and some interior art by Will Eisner. Published by Kitchen Sink Press. Condition is excellent/like new, as scanned. $5
