WILL EISNER original
art from INVISIBLE
PEOPLE “Sanctum” (1992) pg.23
Title/date/description: A nice page from the
“Sanctum” first chapter of INVISIBLE PEOPLE,
created by Eisner in 1992.
Pincus Pleatnik, a clothes presser at Schmotter’s Tailor
Shop has been mistakenly announced as dead in a
newspaper obituary. In this page, as he desperately
tried to “prove” that he is completely alive, he has
already been replaced at the union shop. The Pressers
Union delegate thinks it’s a a “muscle” play by another
union and subsequently sends a couple of his own goons,
Guido and Benno, to solve the problem.
Page 23 on the art page itself (and page 32 in the
Kitchen Sink and DC Comics editions).
Invisible People was the only Eisner graphic novel that
was first serialized in comic books (three, titled
SANCTUM, THE POWER, and MORTAL COMBAT) and then
collected into a single book in 1993.
Size/medium/condition: Blue pencil, pen,
brush, and ink on heavy Bristol board measuring 11 x 14
inches. Eisner’s official studio rubber stamps on
reverse. Excellent condition.
Provenance: Warranted to be from the
Will Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively
represents. There can be no safer or more
certain purchase of Eisner art.
