Medium/Size/Condition. The preliminary page is drawn in blue and black
pencil on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. The inked page is drawn in brush,
pen and ink on a lightweight Bristol board measuring 11 inches
wide by 14 inches high. The solo page makes fun of big city residents
tendency to avoid eye contact. The pencil is close to the finished
version except for two elements. Originally Will Eisner's text
was written essentially as four stark rules of city life, in
all-caps, but then he tempered them into observations. The last
two panels were expanded to ill the space far more effectively
in the final. Both originals are in excellent condition. They
are mounted together with archival tape on a textured tan mat
board measuring 16 x 23 inches -all you have to add is the frame
and glass (a double-aperture mat is also recommended).
Price: $1,850 for the lot of 2 pieces, mounted.
Provenance/Warranty: The guaranteed to be original art by Will Eisner
and is further warranted to be from the Will Eisner estate, which
is exclusively represented by the Denis Kitchen Art Agency. The
agency's Bill of Sale serves as the ultimate provenance for any
future resale.
