SPIRIT MOVIE ART, “Torn Shirt" (1986)
In 1986 Eisner entered into a deal with Warner
Brothers for a SPIRIT pilot that ended up as a
made-for-TV movie aired in 1987. He agreed to do a
handful of watercolor drawings as set guides for the
director and set designer.
This striking image depicts a burly goon tearing the
shirt off The Spirit (not that there is much shirt
left to be torn).
Keep in mind that Eisner
created relatively few full color originals.
This is one of only a handful remaining in the
Size/medium/condition:13 x 10
inches (33 x 25.4 cm). Watercolor and
Ink on thick illustration board. Excellent
