Back cover (Lot of 2). Four terrific
panels featuring Superman vs. The Flying Horse, The
Prankster, The Phantom Thief, and Mop-Up Moby. $1,500
Medium/Size/Condition: India
ink on heavy Bristol board measuring 15” wide x 22” high
(38.1 x 55.9 cm). Signed and dated (2015) in the lower
right, plus a 2nd signature at the top with
the creative history (drawn in Crumb’s village in
France). A few small areas, mostly 4th panel,
have shallow cut marks where Poplaski removed black ink
with a blade. The “explosion” at the bottom with
roughed-in bar code, IDW & DC logos, etc. is simply
a layout suggestion to the publisher, IDW: it is on a
hinge that can be lifted & removed from the original
beneath. The lot includes Poplaski’s color guide: color
pencils on a photocopy (10 x 13”) of the finished art.
Both items are in excellent condition, other than the
small cuts noted.
