WILL EISNER original
art from INVISIBLE PEOPLE,
“Sanctum” (1992) pg. 28
Title/date/description: A
beautifully-composed and drawn page from “Sanctum,”
the 1st chapter in INVISIBLE PEOPLE,
created by Eisner in 1992.
Pincus Pleatnik, the clothes presser who has been
mistakenly announced as dead in a newspaper obituary,
has been kidnapped by two union goons, Guido and
Benno. Pincus desperately contemplates and fears for
his fate while locked in the back seat. The 2nd and
3rd panels are masterfully offset by Eisner against
the black New Jersey cliffside.
Page 28 on the art page itself (and page 37 in the
Kitchen Sink and DC Comics editions). Invisible People
was the only Eisner graphic novel that was first
serialized in comic books (three, titled SANCTUM, THE
POWER, and MORTAL COMBAT) and then collected into a
single book in 1993.
Size/medium/condition: Blue pencil,
pen, brush, and ink on heavy Bristol board measuring
11 x 14 inches. Eisner’s official studio rubber stamps
on reverse. Excellent condition.
Provenance: Warranted to be from the
Will Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively
represents. There can be no safer or more
certain purchase of Eisner art.
