A rare example of Eisner’s humor cartooning, this page
sets up the collection of startling-but-true nuggets
about health, wealth, life, love, and the pursuit of
happiness to be found in the book.
Inspired
by underground comix, newsstand humor magazines and book
collections of humor cartoons Eisner wrote, illustrated
and published a series of humor publications prior to
developing the Graphic Novel format in 1978. This page
is from an early entry in that series, which
would eventually become known as "Gleeful Guides."

Size/Medium/Condition: Pen,
brush and ink with paste-up elements (mechanical
lettering). The original measures 7.5 x 10 inches on
clear vellum which has been lightly glued onto 9.75 by
13 inch heavy illustration board. An additional
protective vellum overlay is taped onto the board, which
contains some editorial corrections in Eisner’s
handwriting. Some discoloration of headline stats and
rubber cement after nearly 50 years. But the jam-packed
artwork is clean and uncompromised. Excellent overall
condition.

Denis Kitchen Art Agency, an affiliate of Steve Krupp’s
Curio Shoppe and Gallery. This drawing is warranted to
