Frank Stack Original Art: Self Portrait of the Artist (1986)

Frank Stack Original Art: Self Portrait of the Artist (1986)
    Price: $300.00

FRANK STACK (1937-) a.k.a. Foolbert Sturgeon • Original Watercolor drawing “Self Portrait of the Artist” (1986)

Frank Stack’s oeuvre varies a great deal, from pen and ink cartoons, to etchings, to chalk drawings, nudes, and chalk art to watercolor paintings.  Here is an intense, bold and expressive self-portrait. Many collectors love self-portraits of cartoonists, but seldom get them in color. But Frank Stack is much more than a cartoonist. Signed lower right.

Medium/Size/Condition: Brush, watercolor, ink and marker on light Bristol board measuring 10.5 inches wide x 14 inches high. Excellent condition.

    Further reference:
Most comix historians regard Frank Stack as the very first underground cartoonist (his earliest Jesus comics way pre-date R. Crumb or Gilbert Shelton). Additional Stack art is available.  Contact us for further details.  Additionally, Stack items (out of print books and postcards) can be found in Steve Krupp’s Curio Shoppe.
