    Title/date/description: SUPERMAN: 40th ANNIVERSARY in METROPOLIS, ILLINOIS.

    Metropolis, IL adopted Superman forty years ago. This dramatic signage was created by Peter Poplaski in commemoration of that anniversary. The flying Superman is based on Siegel and Shuster’s original version (note the small “S” on the chest and the modern version lower right). Everything her is original art including the challenging large “S” trademark—Poplaski NEVER uses photostats or photocopies.

    His lettering—everything—is always original. This is an unusual piece never seen outside Superman’s “home town.” Might be especially desired by an Illinois native. Comes with a same size color proof with Poplaski’s hand-colored printer guide. 

    Size/medium/condition:     17.5 x 15 inches (44.5 x 38 cm). Ink on heavy Bristol board. Excellent condition.
