WILL EISNER: Page 17 from The Miracle of
Dignity, in MINOR MIRACLES (1991).
The Miracle of Dignity is one of four apocryphal stories or "meinsas"
in the Jewish tradition that circulated on Will Eisners often
revisited Dropsie Avenue in New York: remembrances and stories of
outrageous fortune and unlucky coincidence that are subjective and
unreliable but ultimately miraculous. Here the story comes full circle
and we see Uncle Amos as poor as when the story began.
Size/Medium/Condition/Price:
Minor Miracles art measures
11 by 14 inches. It is one of Wills few graphic novels drawn in a
combination of wash (diluted ink) and his traditional brush and black
ink on Bristol board. These softly-toned originals are to many
collectors, especially in Europe, regarded as among Eisners finest
from an aesthetic point of view. Excellent condition. Price: $1,400.
Provenance: This original art is warranted to be from the Will
Eisner estate and guaranteed to be authentic. No one else has owned
this art except Will Eisner and his widow Ann (exclusively represented
for art sales by the Denis Kitchen Art Agency). This item, if
purchased, will come with a DKAA Bill of Sale which provides ironclad
provenance for insurance purposes, any museum exhibition or possible
future resale.
The latest edition of Minor
Miracles is still available from publisher W. W. Norton, leading
bookstores and internet retailers.
