WILL EISNER
(1917-2005) • Original Spirit art
“Cache McStash,” page 3” (1948)
In 1948 Will Eisner often did all of the
writing, penciling and inking on his own
stories, but he was assisted on “Cache McStash”
(September 12, 1948) by Andre LeBlanc.
That said, Eisner singled out this particular
page in an interview with Kitchen Sink editor Dave
Schreiner in 1987: “”On page 2,” Eisner
said, “Andre provided inking and may have even
gone over the pencils, especially on the middle
tier, On page 3 on the other hand much of the
inking in mine. Those kids walking down the
steps on page 3, that’s the Eisner shuffle.”
Medium/Size/Condition: Brush, pen and
ink on Bristol board measuring 16.5 inches wide
x 22.5 inches high. White tape on the very top
and bottom is long-missing. Selective White-out
(most notably the calculations on the
blackboard), but no paste-ups. Excellent
condition.
Further reference: Much
other Eisner art, plus out-of-print graphic novels,
Spirit comic books and magazines,
