WILLEISNER(1917-2005)• Original page 5 to “The Prediction”(June 19, 1949) Littleart remains available from the “prime” Spirit storiesfrom the late ‘40s. It doesn’t include The Spirit,but the art is great,combining three distinct tiers: The top tier featuresThe Spirit’s sidekick Ebonysneaking a treasure past twothugs in a fog; in the middle tier Will Eisner breaksup the action with anexplanation of a cold air mass, with beautifully drawnmountains and wind; andin the bottom four panels we see the rightly bound Mr. Millibar attempting to escape usingdynamite sticks. The pageis beautifully drawn, demonstrating Eisner’s topchops. Medium/Size/Condition:The original is drawn with brush, pen and ink onBristol board measuring 15 inches wide x 22 incheshigh. There is very moderaterubber cement staining just above and below the artwhere title and page numberPhotostats were placed in 1949; Otherwise excellentcondition. The Eisnerstudio rubber stamp is on the reverse.
