BLAB! No. 6 (1991).

setting the pace for comix and offbeat graphics more
than a decade. The 6th issue is a 128-page squarebound

Who were the heaviest drinking
cartoonists of all time? Dan Clowes (Ghost World and Eightball)
teams up with Blab! editor Monte

bloodier than those in his violent comic books; Bill
Everett, creator of Sub-Mariner;
Graham Ingels (E.C. horror artist); Wally
Wood (MAD and E.C. science fiction
artist extraordinare), who ultimately took his own
life; and underground cartoonist Roger Brand (Young
Lust, Banzai and Insect Fear).
Richard Sala contributed the front cover and a13-page
mystery story, "Where is Christine Brooder?"

Black (not the comedic actor, but the criminal
opium-addicted hobo). Seventeen pages.
Skip Williamson, of Bijou Funnies fame,
contributes a "Necropolis Keester" barfly story as
well as his better known "Snappy Sammy Smoot."
"Steven," the celebrated man-child
by Doug Allen, is a notrorious
drinker, as is his thirsty cactus. Fourteen pages of
hard-drinking comics!
Art professor and pioneer
underground cartoonist Frank Stack (Jesus,
American Splendor) relates "The Lying Ear," on
the relationship of Vincent Van Gogh and Paul
Gauguin in Arles.
Spain Rodriguez offers a memoir, "Down at the Kitty
Kat."
Justin Green (Binky Brown) finishes BLAB!
Vol. 6 with "Great Moments in Alcoholism."
