WILL EISNER. "Borrowed
Time"(8 pieces) fromCity People Notebook (1989).
Lot of eight: a complete 4-page
inked story, plus four corresponding pencil layouts. The story
"Information/Flow" appears on pages 33-36 of the Kitchen
Sink Press edition of City People Notebook, or pages 29-32
in the new Norton edition.
Medium/Size/Condition. The preliminary pages are drawn in blue and black
pencil on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. The inked pages are drawn in brush,
pen and ink on a lightweight Bristol board measuring 11 inches
wide by 14 inches high. The pencil layouts are quite close to
the finished pages in most respects, but there are two interesting
changes. The very first and last panels reverse direction, and
the Caucasian salesman in the roughs becomes an African-American
in the final version. All eight originals are in excellent condition.
They are mounted together in pairs with archival tape on four
textured mat boards measuring 16 x 23 inches -- all you have
to add is the frame and glass (though a double-aperture mat is
