    122. Megaton Man! [Flying Pose] (1984).

Don Simpson's color comic book parodying silver age Marvel comics was a big hit for Kitchen Sink Press from 1984 till about 1986. The 22-year-old cartoonist moved to an apartment carved out of KSP's Princeton WI "barn" headquarters, joined the fearsome Sinkers softball team (see the trading cards elsewhere on this site) and proved to be a prolific and popular satirist till his attention wandered elsewhere. His initial parody targeted the venerable Fantastic Four. Reed Richards the Elongated Man; Human Torch; Invisible Girl and The Thing became Liquid Man, Human Melt-Down, See-Thru Girl (she turned naked to distract opponents) and Yarn Man. A set of six collectible Megaton Man buttons was produced in 1984, of which this design is the first. "Megs" was an imbecile with magnificent muscles, and none too graceful, as this "flying" pose suggests. (See also buttons #123-127). 2.25 inches in diameter. $4.00

One note, for serious button collectors, you may want to read the KSP BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years, or see the COMPLETE KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient while it loads.
