    199. Flyin' Jenny by Russell Keaton (1995).

The Aviation Art of Russell Keaton introduced a new generation of comic strip fans to the marvelous work of writer/cartoonist/aviator Russell Keaton (1910-1945). He first made a mark for himself as the uncredited ghost for the celebrated Buck Rogers Sunday strips (1929-1933) and then drew the popular Skyroads daily strip (1933-1939). But both strips were originated by others and Keaton wanted to strike out on his own. In 1939 Keaton created Flyin' Jenny, the first aviatrix strip. "Jenny," modeled on his wife Virginia, proved a popular feature for several years. But Keaton's career was cut tragically short by a war-related injury while in his mid-thirties, and he never achieved the full success and fame he deserved.

[Besides The Aviation Art of Russell Keaton, available on this website, we offer The Famous Cartoonist Postcard Set, in which Keaton is represented. We also exclusively sell the beautiful original Keaton artwork from Flyin' Jenny on behalf of his family.] Insider's tip: Watch in the not-too-distant future for an amazing revelation about Russell Keaton's career and how a popular culture icon could have taken an unexpected twist.

    1.25 inch diameter. $3.00

One note, for serious button collectors, you may want to read the KSP BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years, or see the COMPLETE KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient while it loads.
