TOO MUCH COFFEE MAN No. 15 (June
2002).
We offer this particular issue of TMCM
in our web store because of the provocative
article/interview, "Who is Behind the Cult of the
Bushmiller Society?" The magazine purports to
name Denis Kitchen as the force behind this
far-reaching, visionary and ---some would argue---
dangerous organization.
Kitchen innocently consented to be interviewed
by TMCM editor Shannon Wheeler, but Wheeler, a
well-known skeptic of all things Bushmiller,
turned the wheels on Kitchen by presenting the
results as a silly "self-interview." The result
undermined the serious intent, leaving average readers
with the impressionh that there is nothing serious
about the B.S.
Illustrated with an Ernie
Bushmiller "Nancy" strip, a Secret Bushmiller
Society Member Button and an actual DC-rejected panel
from Dark Knight 2 by Frank Miller,
another alleged B.S. (or splinter Friends of
Sluggo) member. There is still enough of substance
remaining that we can loosely recommend the result to
Bushmiller completists.
But "true-believers" should refer to
the actual, full and unexpurgated
interview via the following link: [xxxxx].
Both Kitchen and Miller
protested the handling of this "interview" (their
respective letters appeared in TMCM #16, not
offered here) to no avail. Too Much Coffee Man
#15 is an eccentric 84-page squarebound magazine
containing satire on Kevin Smith, interviews
with Spider-Man's Brian Michael Bendis
and sex worker fanzine editor Teresa Dulce,
plus cartoons, articles and reviews, not always about
coffee. TMCM #15 is still available from us at
cover price.
