BARN OF FEAR, The (1977).
This b&w anthology features horror
with barnyard themes and mixes underground and mainstream contributors.
The cover and inside cover by Alfredo Alcala. The lead
story is "Let's Play Chicken!" by Doug Moench
and Dave Hunt. "Toro! Toro!" is by Lawrence Shell
and Alcala. Patrick Cosgrove contributes "Buying
Uncle Barney's Funny Farm" as Scott Shaw goes "Cold
Turkey!" J. Michael Leonard does "Night Crawling"
while Dr. Atomic's Larry Todd writes and draws
"The Crimey-Slimey Monster of Rottenberry Swamp," along
with the color back cover. Tom Sutton wraps it up with
"That Damn Dog," though George Erling's "Let
Me Axe My Wife" fills the inside back cover. Barn of
Fear is a "ground level" comic with an edge.
We have a few of these in like-new condition,
priced to sell. Published by Shell's Comic Art Gallery. First
(and only?) printing (October 1977), NM/Mint. $6
