Rare 1984 Mr. Natural Resin Statue,
MINT in Box.
This 4.5" tall heavy resin Mr.
Natural statue was authorized by Robert Crumb in 1984.
It was the very first statue of any Crumb cartoon characters.
Rare enough in itself, this statue is still in the original
box along with the mini comic book titled "The
Origins of Mr. Natural," which was produced solely to accompany
this statue. The statue and comic book are mint; the white cardboard
box with "Mr. Natural" on the side shows very slight
wear. This is as well-preserved a set as you will see.
The bottom of the statue has four felt
pads and the manufacturer's sticker. This item was actually advertised
several times in Rolling Stone in 1984 at considerable
expense to the small manufacturer. It was intended to be the
first of a successful series of Crumb statues. However, sales
from the ad were very disappointing (Crumb
fans didn't read Rolling Stone?) and the company, Rock
City, went of out business. Only a few hundred were ever made.
NOTE: this is NOT the
vinyl statue issued later by KSP.
