WILL
EISNER ORIGINAL ART
Title/date/description: WILL
EISNER’S QUARTERLY #4 COVER (1984)
The relatively short-lived magazine WILL EISNER’S
QUARTERLY was issued for two years by Kitchen Sink
Press as a showcase for Eisner’s essays on comic art;
his “Shop Talk” interviews with famous contemporaries
like Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, Joe Kubert, and
others; as well as “sneak previews” of upcoming
graphic novels.
Each magazine featured a new cover painting. This one
of a striker eating lunch after a union demonstration
has ended —or been broken up— is a scene from his A
Life Force in progress That’s arguably
Eisner’s most admired graphic novel after A
Contract with God, so this cover carries
an additional status. A copy of the magazine will be
included with the art.
Keep in mind if you are
considering acquiring original WE art that
Eisner created relatively few full
color covers This is one of only a tiny
handful remaining in the estate’s possession.
Size/medium/condition: 12 x 16
inches (30.5 x 40.6 cm). Watercolor
and Ink on thick illustration board. Excellent
condition.
Provenance:
Warranted to be from the Will
Eisner estate, which this agency exclusively
represents.
