188. The City of Lost
Children (1995).
Kitchen Sink Press entered into a cross-promotion
agreement with Sony Classics Pictures and the French producer
of this wonderful science fiction film by Jeunet & Caro.
The basic plot: Several children are kidnaped by cloned henchmen
for the evil Krank who is persuaded that stealing children's
dreams will help him against his premature aging. However, Denree
the little brother of a circus strongman called One (actor Ron
Perlman), was among the children that were caught by the Cyclops.
Eager to retrieve his brother, One will team with a clever nine
year old girl, Miette, to save the children from the hands of
the mad man.
The amazing visuals convinced KSP to team
up with Sony on this project. Other than producing some T-shirts,
this promo button and distributing the movie poster (on which
KSP's trademark appears), little came of the arrangement. This
is one of the very few KSP buttons utilizing a photo image. The
sub-titled film is definitely worth checking out. 1.25 inch diameter.
$3.00
One note, for serious button collectors,
you may want to read the KSP
BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for
identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years,
or see the COMPLETE
KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient
while it loads.
