249. Friends of Sluggo (2002).
We know
nothing about
the Bushmiller Society despite offering button #248 above.
We know even less about Friends of Sluggo. We have
heard that it is a radical group that splintered off of the B.S.
under a cloud. We have heard persistent rumors that cartoonist
Frank Miller (Batman: The Dark Knight) is, inexplicably,
linked with the splinter. After Miller was "outed"
in Denis Kitchen's Too
Much Coffee Man Interview and on the cover of Too
Much Coffee Man #15, he wrote a curious letter in the following
issue, and reportedly created Friends of Sluggo as a "purer"
form of Bushmillerism, itself a fringe crypto-religion based
on the creator of the world's dumbest comic strip, Nancy.
True believers scoff at this put-down and
assure us that "there is dumb and then there is sublime,"
implying that Nancy is "sublime," but we remain
skeptical. All we know is that some pretty rough-looking characters
"asked" us to sell these buttons and we are doing so
without wanting to know too much about industry politics, religion
or cults. And if you seek similar esoterica, we refer
you to buttons #'d #8-B, 128, 129, 134, 156, 248 and 273.)
1.25 inch diameter. $3.00
One note, for serious button collectors,
you may want to read the KSP
BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for
identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years,
or see the COMPLETE
KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient
while it loads.
