    71. Famous Cartoonist Series: Neal Adams (1977).

Also known in earlier catalogs as #53-A. When Pinback Jack produced its set of self-portrait buttons in 1975 it included 52 cartoonists, numbered in alphabetical order (see #1-52). Neal Adams, of Batman and Green Arrow fame, was never known as the world's fastest cartoonist. He delivered his image well past the deadline, as did another artist (see button #72). Publisher Denis Kitchen nonetheless decided to include these two artists in a new series of buttons published two years later, keeping the numbers on the button face consistent with the set. Thus there are two cartoonists out of alphabetical order and in a later numerical chronology. Purists may quibble but we consider the Famous Cartoonist Series to be a 54-artist set.

    2.25 inch diameter. $5.00

One note, for serious button collectors, you may want to read the KSP BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years, or see the COMPLETE KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient while it loads.
