Fearless Fosdick Vol. 1 by Al Capp.
Fosdick was a strip-within-a-strip
that was an intricate part of Li'l Abner for
decades. Fearless Fosdick was initially just a parody
of Chester Gould's popular Dick Tracy comic
strip. But the character became so popular that Al
Capp periodically inserted him into the ongoing
adventures. He had to--- the only thing the
"real" character Li'l Abner ever read was the "comical
strip" character Fearless Fosdick, whom Abner referred
to reverentially as "mah ideel!"
This volume collects five complete
Fosdick stories: "Anyface" (1947), "The Case of the
Poisoned Beans" (1954), "Sidney the Crooked Parrot,"
"The Case of the Atom Bum" (1951) and "The Chippendale
Chair" (1948). Introduction by then Dick Tracy writer
Max Allan Collins. The daily strip format is
reconfigured to fit the 8.5" x 11" soft cover book.
128 pages.
