GRATEFUL DEAD COMIX No. 4 (1992)
Gilbert Shelton (creator of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers)
and collaborator Paul Mavrides created this issues cover
in which we can only surmise that Jerry Garcia has taken
some bad acid. Shelton had earlier illustrated at least
one Dead album cover. This is the only comic cover
in which Bob Weir, Phil Kreutzman, and the entire
band is depicted.
The classic Dead tune "Truckin'"
is interpreted by Nina Paley, while Pat Redding
puts pictures to "Mexicali Blues." Regular Tim Truman
tackles "Jack Straw" and Mary Fleener does justice
to "St. Stephen." Lively letters section from avid
deadheads debating earlier contributions.
Printed on recycled paper with soy inks
on a pollution-free web press by Kitchen Sink Press.
8.5" x 11" format with color throughout. Near
mint. $12.00
