MR. NATURAL No. 3
by R. Crumb (1st printing).
In 1976 and 1977 underground cartoonist
Robert Crumb created an ongoing "Mr. Natural"
strip for The Village Voice, a weekly New York newspaper
with hip roots. In the lengthy adventure our favorite fly-by-night
guru, deals with fans, fights the devil, goes crazy, and is committed
to an insane asylum by devotees Flakey Foont and Ruth
Schwartz. The strip ends as obnoxious ultra-hip "Voice"
reporters press Foont and Schwartz for details.
This is a thicker-than-normal underground
comic. The "guts" number 40 pages instead of the standard
32 and, like most KSP comix, it is printed on nice white paper,
not newsprint. Kitchen Sink Press first collected the
material into Mr. Natural No. 3 in 1977.
The edition offered here is the very
1st printing (1977) with an original cover price of
$1.00 Unlike the later printings, it does not have Crumb's
name on the cover. Truly NM/Mint condition. $35.00
