Outcault (
1863-1928) is called the father of the American comic strip for
his creation of The Yellow Kid (1895-1898), the
first color Sunday cartoon, featuring a hugely popular character
(a.k.a. Mickey Dugan, an Irish boy of New York). His Buster
Brown (1902-1920) starred the consummate lovable, mischeivous
boy as well as his bulldog Tige and Mary Jane.
4" x 6" sepia tone on heavy card stock.
