    FIFTY all-different POSTCARDS featuring highlights of WILL EISNER’s long and storied career! Authorized by the estate and assembled in 2022 by Chris Irving, the full color cards measure 3.5 x 5.5 inches (“classic” postcard size, as opposed to 4 x 6" modern cards).

    Features examples of his earliest career (Hawks of the Sea and other pre-1940 comics work) through THE SPIRIT, WWII posters, Baseball Comics, educational comics, and then the groundbreaking graphic novel period starting with A Contract with God in 1978.

    Also included are photos of Eisner at different stages, and photos with Jules FeifferStan Lee, and Denis Kitchen.

    There are running commentaries on the backs of the postcards by professionals who knew him well: Neil Gaiman, Paul Levitz, Mike Allred, Karen Green, Jon B. Cooke, Diana Schutz, Mark Waid, and Kitchen.

    All in a nifty box that can fit like a pocket book on your bookshelves if you don’t put the individual cards into album pages.

    * * *

    Will Eisner (1917-2005) is one of the most admired and beloved figures in comics history. The multi-talented artist, writer, editor, “packager,” and businessman began his long career as a teenager shortly after the birth of comic books in the mid 1930s. He is is best known as the creator of The Spirit (1940-52) and the modern graphic novel (starting with A Contract with God in 1978), but he also invented Sheena, Queen of the Jungle; Blackhawk; Dollman; and other Golden Age characters.

    Eisner also pioneered the field of educational comics, both for the U.S. Army (Army Motors and PS), other government agencies, and private industry.

    The annual Will Eisner Awards for excellence in comics, presented annually at San Diego Comic Con, are named after him. His original art is highly prized, sometimes selling for tens of thousands of dollars at Heritage and other auctions.
