WILL EISNER "The Late Train"
lithograph (1988).
Late night stragglers wait anxiously for
the next subway deep within the bowels of New York City. More
than one observer has noted that the bespectacled man sitting
upright bears an uncanny resemblance to underground cartoonist
Robert Crumb.
The original color painting is one of four
New York street scenes that comics legend Will Eisner created
for a limited edition lithograph set in 1988. Only eight hundred
lithographs of each image were produced, each signed &
numbered by Eisner. Of these, the 400 even-numbered prints
were sold in the American market and the odd-numbered edition
was sold exclusively in Europe.
Actual image area is 15 inches wide by
19.25 inches high. The full framing size with margins of this
lithograph is 19.25" x 27.25". Acid-free paper.
