MAN BAIT Card Set (1992). (NO BOX)
Pop culture historian Mike Barson (Lost,
Lonely and Vicious) assembled this card set from a vintage
collection of "tough girl" lobby cards. There really
was a film called Man Bait, starring Diana Dors (changed
from her unfortunate given name, Diana Fluck), who was
known as "England's answer to Marilyn Monroe."
Barson's wry wit and research (he's evidently seen all
these classics) brings these obscure B-movies to life and the
wild lobby cards scream "high camp." Among the more
memorable titles are Bad Blonde with Barbara Payton;
Born to be Bad (Joan Fontaine); Untamed Youth
(starring Mamie Van Doren, "the girl built like a
platinum powerhouse"); Playgirl (starring a then-svelte
Shelly Winters); It's a Man Trap and She's the Bait
(Cleo Moore); Female Jungle (Jayne Mansfield);
Women's Prison (Ida Lupino); Prehistoric Women
(featuring "Primitive Passions!"); Blonde Bait;
Blonde Alibi (Martha O'Driscoll); Under Age;
Three Bad Sisters ("One got what she wanted with
her looks; One got what she wanted with a whip; One got what
she wanted anyway she could!"); Pickup ("You
Can 'Pick Up' This Girl, But You Won't if You Know What's Good
For You!"); and its highly anticipated sequel, The
Girl on the Bridge (announcing "That Pickup Girl
is Back!").
These cards were originally published more
than a decade ago as a boxed set by Kitchen Sink Press.
What we are offering here is the full 36-card set from
the first printing minus
only the box. Long out of
print and a bargain at $10.95
