KRUPP MAIL ORDER CATALOG (Fall-Winter 1981). Cover by Denis Kitchen.
The Krupp Mail Order Catalog (Boulder,
CO) was a successful spin-off of the Krupp Comic Works enterprise
that also spawned Kitchen Sink Press. On the occasion of the
catalog's 10th anniversary, (1971-1981) KMO partner Denis
Kitchen created one of his trademark crowd covers (see this
web site's host Steve Krupp in the background). Kitchen
and Peter Poplaski also also created 10th anniversary
KMO buttons for the anniversary (see the Buttons section of the
web site). Various underground cartoonists (including Bill
Griffith, Howard Cruse, John Pound, Justin Green, Peter Loft,
Poplaski and Kitchen) created unique covers for the
KMO catalogs over the years, guaranteeing a certain collectibility.
But the catalogs also provide an alternative culture time capsule.
Comix fans will be curious to see many now quite rare underground
comic books for sale at cover prices (typically $1 to $1.50!).
Old hippies and those too-young-to-have-experienced-it will be
fascinated by the open sale of drug paraphernalia (pages and
pages of brass pipes, wooden pipes, ceramic pipes, bongs, etc.).
Also lots of books on How to Grow Marijuana and other cultural
artifacts from ---can it be?--- more than twenty years ago. 8.5"
x 11. 48 pages. Color throughout. Mint/near mint condition.
