felt that a strong grasp of skeletal anatomy was an essential
cornerstone for expressive anatomy, so his book begins with this
wonderfully rendered skeleton. In the published book (W. W. Norton,
2008) the hand-lettering is replaced by mechanical fonts, as Poplaski�s
note at the bottom of page 6 [sic] instructs. A comparison of the
sharply detailed original with the published version shows that
considerable subtlety was lost in the reproduction.
Brush, pen and ink
with some white-out on 8.5 x 11 inch vellum mounted on 8.5 x 11 5/8
white paper whose reverse is a photocopy of the original when at an
earlier stage. The headline is on a separate small sheet of paper clear
taped to the vellum. 2nd piece, on 8.5 x 11 sheet, is Will Eisner�s
guide with glued photocopy, white-out, blue pencil layout and his
original hand lettering. $375
