247. The Short Life & Happy Times
of the Shmoo (2002).
Overlook Press in
New York published this hard cover book in the fall of 2002.
It combines the earliest Shmoo story from 1948 with Al Capp's
"Return of the Shmoo" sequel from 1959. DKAA,
the Li'l Abner licensing agent, issued this 1.25"
button for promotional purposes, including the big Shmoo
media party thrown at Illustration House in December 2002 in
conjunction with NYC's MOCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art).
This is the first pinback button depicting more than one Shmoo,
and these two Shmoos are clearly in love. Great inexpensive Shmoo
collectible while they last. (See also button #241.) $2.50
Kitchen Sink Press published twenty-seven
12" x 9" volumes
of Li'l Abner Dailies, many of which are still available
in this web store.

One note, for serious button collectors,
you may want to read the KSP
BUTTON TEXT which explains the numbering systems for
identifying the various buttons produced over the last 30 years,
or see the COMPLETE
KSP BUTTON LIST. The list is VERY long, so be patient
while it loads.
