STEVE CANYON Vol. 23: THE SCARLET PRINCESS (1989) by Milton Caniff.
Two complete Steve Canyon adventures:
"Twice Broken Heart" (July 9 to October 31, 1955) and
"The Scarlet Princess" (November 1, 1955 to April 11,
1956). Every strip was carefully reproduced from Caniff's own
studio proof sheets for remarkable clarity. The Sunday strips
include Caniff's interesting out-of-the panel linework that can
be seen no where else. The introduction (reprinting 1967 text)
is by Caniff's lifelong friend Al Capp, including a Shmoo-era
photo of Capp and a 1951 Li'l Abner strip wherein Capp
is mistaken for Caniff by a fan. Edited and designed by Peter
Poplaski. This is an 8.5 x 11" horizontal squarebound
book, published by Kitchen Sink Press. 192 pages. Mint/near mint.
